A Darker Mirror by Dave Young

A Darker Mirror
by Dave Young.
I scarcely dare to look,
these days of rapid change,
edged with cynicism.
The gaze that sweeps across me –
severe; a face I thought I knew
’til now. A moveable feast to re-arrange.
Once, with an eye ever hopeful,
the heady then, the more grounded now.
I scarcely dare to look,
in case the weight of the past
comes leaping through.
