The sun in its jewel case (Le Soleil dans son ecrin) by Yves Tanguy.
When I visited the Peggy Guggenheim museum in Venice in May I immediately fell in love with this painting and I didn’t know why. There is a spacial paradox at work, a poetic strangeness – I looked and looked and looked. Then it dawned on me – there is no horizon. The merging of sky and earth is created by a simple but strong sense of light. Amazing.
